OGRE TO HOST REPO SHOWING AT TN HORROR CON

Update :: Corey
Repo Screening at Horror Weekend

Ogre is set to appear this Saturday and Sunday at Horror Weekend 2011 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. In addition to signing autographs and merchandise, he will be hosting the convention's special midnight showing of his scene-stealing turn in Repo! If you're anywhere in the area, make sure you get yourself there for a fun chance to chat with Ogre when he isn't covered in stage blood and mask slime. Sadly I will not be there to assist him at this one, so make sure to tell him you're a Litany reader yourself.

DEAD VOICES ON AIR ANNIVERSARY RELEASES

Update :: Corey
Mark Spybey's Dead Voices on Air is set to celebrate it's twentieth year of recording with a series of seven-inch singles each featuring new material with a different collaborator. In addition to a release featuring cEvin Key, the series will include recordings made with Edward Ka-Spel, Ryan Moore, and other luminaries listed below. I urge Download fans unfamiliar with DVOA to investigate this project that more fully explores the organic, textural side of legendary records like Furnace and Eyes of Stanley Pain.

Since leaving :zoviet-france: in the late eighties Mark Spybey has released fifteen albums as Dead Voices On Air. He's appeared on over 80 releases in the past twenty years. When the late Michael Karoli, the seminal guitarist, put together a band in the late nineties to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Can, it was Spybey who he asked to help him. He has made a career out of collaborating extensively with a wide range of musicians, filmmakers and visual artists. He was a member of Download and formed Beehatch with Phil Western of Download and Reformed Faction with ex-:zoviet-france: members, including Robin Storey of Rapoon. Between 1992 and 2000 he lived and worked in Vancouver, Canada and has toured extensively around the world with a variety of collaborators including Karoli and Damo Suzuki of Can, The Legendary Pink Dots, Pigface, Michael Rother of Neu! and Dieter Moebius of Cluster. He's remixed Neu! and Faust amongst others. His has worked with labels such as Kranky, Nettwerk, Soleilmoon Recordings, Invisible, Spoon, Scratch, Cleopatra, Lens and for the 20th anniversary seven inch single series, Tourette Records of Houston Texas.

Each of the singles in this series will feature a different collaborator, working with Spybey to create entirely new pieces of music. At the time of writing, artists that have agreed to take part include:

1. Simon Fisher Turner of Mute Records
2. James Plotkin, of Flux, Old, Khanate, Scorn
3. Troum, Germany's finest drone band
4. Edward Kaspel, of the Legendary Pink Dots
5. cEvin Key, of Skinny Puppy and Download
6. Robert Hampson, of Main, Loop
7. Robin Storey of Rapoon
8. Jochen Arbeit, of Neubaten and Die Haut
9. Dave Wright of Not Breathing
10. Ryan Moore of Twilight Circus Dub Sound System
11. Orbit Service, from Denver
12. Cindytalk
13. Tore Honore Boe of Origami Republika

It is anticipated that more artists will be added to the roster. The releases will be packaged by David Babbitt with art commissioned by Paul Bilger. The final release will be housed in a commemorative box to house all of the singles.

The first single is due to be released in September of 2011 and will feature Simon Fisher Turner, under the name MzMzLaLaLa.

Special deals will be announced by the label. At the moment you can order the first three singles for $30.00 USD or the SFT single for $13.99 USD.

Some of you have asked whether we will be releasing digital copies of the singles. Don't know is the answer. Defeats the object of releasing something so beautiful as a series of 7inch singles. The resourceful may digitise it anyway and the unscrupulous will share digital copies with others. So what's the point?

Details of the first release can be found here

This single is ready to ship.

Singles 2 and 3 will also be released this year and will be:

Edward Kaspel and Mark Spybey, "The Bowles Given"

Robin Storey and Mark Spybey, "With a Why and an Ear."

SUBCON RELEASES SYNTH

Update :: Corey
Subcon Synth

For the first time, Subconscious Communications is stepping into the world of musical hardware. Here is the scoop from cEvin Key himself:::

Over a year in development, Subconscious Communications and cEvin Key are now ready to release their first set of modules designed specifically for Euro Rack Modular system. The legendary Model 15 OSC and Model 37 LFO are newly designed SMT versions of the originals and are now available for pre-order online.

The time has come to give people the power to make their own music with our inspiration in mind. The eventual goal is to produce a standalone synthesizer module by module that is a collaborative between artists and makers but bears the stamp of our quality control and wishes.

This is to coincide with the re-release of Download Fixer on Sept 13, Download Helicopter/Wookie wall on Sept 24 and SP's HanDover on Oct 24th. Expect more modules to come soon. These are all in limited edition, and there is a special bundle that includes signatures.

They also feature the artwork of our very own visual master, Simon Paul!

OGRE TO APPEAR AT HORRORFIND CON

Update :: Corey
If you're in the area, come on down to Horrorfind in Gettysburg, PA this weekend. Ogre will be appearing and signing autographs. He should also have some ohGr merch in tow and will happily answer your many questions about Handover. I'll be there with him once again as his helper monkey, so please say hello. Judging by last year's event, which somehow ended in me eating Boo Berry outside of the hotel at 4am with some lovely new friends who'd driven up from Virginia, it should be a good time. Also appearing this year are Ogre's Repo co-star Bill Moseley and Roddy Piper, who I am hoping is all out of bubblegum.
